It is a credit to the original designs and build quality that so very few products have required any form of repair over 10 years or more. The Perception products carried 5 year guarantees, whereas Overture products carried 2 year guarantees. Both ranges still continue to provide good service. Electronic parts are still available but case parts are becoming scarce. Upgrades (and repairs if needed) are still maintained as we enter a full 10 years since Kinshaw 'left' the market.

In response to demand, interest and just pure curiosity a new "2005" Phono Stage has been created on a trial basis. If you fancy an audition, please call the office. Details of the new phono stage can be down loaded from the PDF icon in the panel.

Perception range

  • Power amps - true 140W RMS/channel (mono block & stereo)
  • Pre-amp with balanced line output (2 box only)
  • Phono Stage (Standard or "SA", 1 box or 2 box)
  • Digital to Analogue Converter (1 box or 2 box)

Perception Phono (5KB)The Perception Phono stage has achieved something of a cult status. There is a continued call for its revival - we will see if that is possible this year!

Upgrade opportunity

The Perception Phono was originally released to great acclaim. Subsequently there was a request for a phono stage that could remain accurately on the RIAA curve down to 10-12Hz. This request was unusual at the time and a sample unit was duly created and tested on the bench.

Uncertain of what such properties would do to the sound, it was taken away for audition in a properly configured system. That was the instant the Perception Phono SA became a reality.

The extended frequency response has little to do with bass extension, although there may be some on a handful of records. The acoustic result is one of increased openness, greater transparency with the neutrality and quiet background for which the perception is famed.

By now, a number of Perception Phono Stages sport an additional circuit board mounted vertically, attached to the main audio board. These are SA modified Phono Stages. If yours does not have this addition, you can still have it upgraded for £250, with a money back guarantee. (In 10 years no one has yet asked for their money back!).

Perception Power Amp (mono block or stereo)

Perception Power Amp (3KB)The Perception Power amp is another of the long standing success products from the Kinshaw stable.

Upgrade Opportunity

Although the design is frozen in time (1995), the amplifiers have stood up well both in durability and sound performance. This is largely because the amplifier was ahead of its time from the outset. Some circuit advances have been added to the a very small number of Perception Power amplifiers.

If you have a power amp and would like to upgrade it, you can be achieve significantly improved sound quality for a fraction of the price of any replacement. The circuit revisions generate the same scale of advances on current products, as the original did at the time.

Overture range

  • Integrated amps with pre-out - true 50W RMS/channel
  • Power amps - true 50W RMS/channel
  • Phono stage
  • Digital to Analogue Converter
